Proof that I had been beaten, but I wasn’t broken.

I can’t imagine going through all she went through.įresh wounds mixed with old scars. It will break your heart.Ībby is the most brave, strong and resilient heroine. If poor Abby hasn’t been through enough already, she goes through something even more traumatic while Jake is gone. Just as they are getting somewhere in their relationship, Jake has to leave town for a while for a job. She can share things with him she has never told a soul, she can be physically intimate for the first time ever. For the first time in her life, Abby is able to open up to someone, to be with someone physically, emotionally, in all ways. We were just us, broken and bruised, fucked-up and messy, and together we were everything we never thought we could be.

They are both a mess, but together they work. When Jake finds out about Abby's past, he is kind, loving, understanding. I loved the two of them together, their friendship that grew into a relationship. He's terrified that she will want nothing to do with him when he tells her.Ībby and Jake are both broken in their own ways. He has some major secrets and skeletons of his own that he is equally afraid of Abby finding out. What Abby fails to realize is Jake wants all of her. Abby is worried that if Jake knew about her childhood, her past, the things she can’t do (she has an aversion to people touching her) he wouldn’t want her anymore. Don’t ever fucking say that again, because you’re everything.” He said it again, quietly this time, “You’re fucking everything, Bee.”

Abby doesn’t feel worthy of Jake, but he knows that’s just not true. Jake feels the need to protect Abby, to take care of her. The night I met Abby Ford, my life changed forever. While at his fathers garage, he sees her. Jake has to come home to take care of some business. He is a biker, a loner who doesn’t get attached to anyone. Jake Dunn has spent the last four years away from this town, his father, and all the memories he’s left behind. She finds herself sleeping in her Nan’s old truck at the junk yard. On the night of her high school graduation, her Nan is tragically taken. The last four years have been the closest to normal she’s ever had. Abby had a terrible and traumatic childhood. The writing was fluid, the plot was unpredictable and I loved how it ended.Ībby Ford has only had one person in her life who she loves, who means anything to her, her Nan. this story wasn’t all happy, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Abby and Jake’s journey was not an easy one. It was beautiful, but broken and intense.
